Ostrava Tower by CHYBIK + KRISTOF to be the Czech Republic’s Highest Skyscraper.
In the past 30 years, the city of Ostrava has shifted from its coal-mining and metalworking past to a more service and information-oriented economy, which has demanded a major change in the physical environment.
The tower of 56 floors shifts on its axis and widens as it rises, providing panoramic views of the city. The design transforms the plaza at the ground level, enlarging the public space and changing the pedestrian flow through the site.
A cafe, a bar, and a stunning rooftop view will be the main attractions on the top four floors; apartments will occupy the upper floors of the tower, while offices and retail space will be available on the 11 lower floors. A hotel and restaurant will operate on the next four levels.
